Freight Demand Estimation

OK, so we don’t have a long list of papers on statistical estimation. At the same time, we have had to put an inordinate amount of work into forecasting (with very little time to write it up). It turns out that if you want to develop stochastic models, you have to create your own estimates of the future. We never anticipated needing to add to the forecasting literature, but forecasting for freight applications has a number of unique characteristics.
